How to plan your career

Career planning is a must in professional life to achieve your goal. What matters is that the job you are doing should be your dream job. To get your dream job, you should have proper planning from childhood, while you are still in school. Today, many intelligent parents carefully plan and motivate their children, thus helping them to shape their careers in the right direction.

In the past also, there have been great men and women who started doing better once they changed their careers. The autobiographies of many famous personalities bear ample testimony to the fact that they were not very successful in their first jobs. On the contrary, a wise switch in careers brought success in its wake along with name, fame and wealth.

So, plan your career.

To plan your career, there are certain steps and guidelines which you should follow:-

1. Decide what you want to become in life - whether your ambition is to enter the corporate world as a powerful management guy or enter social service like medicine or the government sectors.

2. Once you make a decision about your career, you will have to find out from all available sources like parents, seniors, magazines or through the net, what are the ways/procedures to achieve your goal in life.

3. The next step is to think about the foundation or grass root level course, which you should pursue to achieve your target.

4. You make enquiries about the course, go through its entire contents and find out whether it matches with the plans you have in mind or not. In every course, you might find that 60-70% of the contents match with your requirements and the rest may be related to your personality development and extra curricular activities. You then decide whether joining this course will help you reach your desired target or not. Take advice from your seniors or people who are in the same field. You should not hesitate to ask a person who is in the same field even if you do not know that person. To give proper shape to your life, each and every person whom you meet is very important, irrespective of whether you know him or not. Be friendly with everyone and be open to guidance and suggestions from everyone.

5. Once you decide on the course, which you wish to enroll for, put your heart and soul into the subject of your choice. Read, understand and try to grasp your subject thoroughly and always strive for the best possible results.

6. If you have done your best and utilised the time and resources at your disposal wisely, opportunities will come beckoning and your dream career will now be tantalizingly close.
