Movies: 

As you may know, India produces the largest number of films every year. Their influence is all encompassing, across all age groups, cultures and languages. Undoubtedly, movies are the country’s biggest pastime.Mumbai’s Bollywood dominates the Indian movie space with its Hindi pot-boilers, with Regional language movies in Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi among others,also catering to their regional tastes.

Indian cinema is classified as either mainstream or “masala” movies and art films or “parallel cinema”. It's the difference betwen making a movie for money and making a movie, pretending to be  for art ,and then try to make money (whew!).

Music:

Here again, it is  film-music that rules the roost. But apart from this there is a variety of musical styles to choose from to choose from genres like classical, folk, religious, indipop and many others.
